The BUD SHOOTOUT pits the pole winners from 2004 against each other in an exhibition event.

FORMAT FOR 2004

The race will be run in two segments.
The first segment is 20 laps, and the second is 50 laps of the 2.5-mile high-banked speedway.
The final segment of the Shootout must have a green-flag finish even if a caution flag is displayed just before the final lap. The last-lap caution scenario would lead to a "green-white-checker" finish as seen on occasion in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

There is a 10-minute break in between the two segments in which teams can perform normal pit service, including changing tires, adding fuel and making normal chassis adjustments. Springs, shocks and rear ends may not be changed during this break.

There's a twist this year in the second segment, thanks to the recently-mandated 13.5-gallon fuel cells for Daytona: drivers will not be able to make the entire 50-lap second segment without pitting at some point.  [NASCAR.com]
